I Gotta Try This!!

KFC has a new chicken sandwich called the "Double Down"! Two pieces of bacon, two pieces of cheese, with special sauce, between two chicken breasts as buns! I'm sure you've seen the commercials.

This promo shot looks SO good!

This is a picture of a real one (lifted from the internet). Still looking mighty tasty!

I must try one of these before they are gone. I missed the "Angry" whoppers when they were here, and I'm still bummed about that. I believe you can also get the Double Down with grilled chicken breasts as well. Hmmm... I just might have to try it both ways...
Is it dinner time yet?!

Will need one soon...

Carl's Jr. is promoting a new breakfast sandwich. It's called "The Monster Breakfast Sandwich". (Oh no, not another Carl's Jr. post!)

It's so big, it doesn't even fit in the picture!

I think I'm going to need to eat one of these soon. Luckily for me there's a coupon for $1.00 off. (There is a coffee purchase required for the coupon, but I'm sure there's an allowable substitution.)

Carl's Jr. also has a new hand scooped shake flavor... Banana Cream! Not only do they put a banana cream flavored syrup in the shake, they also blend in real Nilla wafers! There's also a coupon for $1.00 off one of these as well. ( I wonder if they'll let me use both coupons together?)

I'm wondering if all the GFCF food that's taken over our kitchen is why I'm so drawn to so much "outside" food? The GFCF food is a bit more expensive than what we used to buy,and therefor it tends to be all we buy, and then Anna and I feel guilty for eating it because it's for the kids, and it would last longer if we weren't eating it as well. But we haven't been too good about buying groceries for ourselves and we've become a bit scavengeristic in our eating habits, and also find ourselves looking "outside" for food, which in the long run, isn't a cheap habit to get into, or ultimately a healthy one. Though we're willing to sacrifice what we need to to benefit the kids. I think it comes down to Anna and I feeling that having "regular" food in the house would be a strong temptation for the boys, and pull them away from the food they're suppose to eat.

Well, I didn't mean for this post to get all feelings and stuff, so yeah... Monster Breakfast sandwiches and Banana shakes! When you try them, come back and leave a comment on what you thought.

That's Hot... (update)

Not long ago I posted a blog with a coupon for the jalapeno chicken sandwich at Carl's Jr. You can see it HERE. Along with some thoughts on chicken sandwiches in general.

Yesterday I had the chance to partake of the jalapeno chicken sandwich for the first time.

As I mentioned in the other post, the type of food coupons that I prefer are the "buy one get one free" type. The other day we got a mailer advertisement with coupons for Carl's, and there was a buy 1 get 1 free coupon for the jalapeno chicken sandwich. Anna and I had an opportunity to use it yesterday.

Anna took all of her jalapenos off, but it was still spicy from the jalapeno juice and few seeds that were left behind. She didn't think it was bad, but she doesn't think she'd get it again. I decided I needed to eat mine with all the jalapenos that came on it intact.

I've read that as people get older they can tolerate more "heat" or spicier foods because their taste buds "die". I don't like that thought. I like to think it's my mental ability to control my reaction to the heat. The heat from the jalapenos never got to where I couldn't take it anymore. Yes it was spicy, but dare I say, I'm learning to like the flavor of jalapeno. That doesn't mean I wan to eat them with every meal or anything like that, but I don't think I'd adamantly avoid them as I've done in the past.

I already like Carl's Jr.'s grilled chicken sandwiches, so putting some spicy stuff on there didn't make me not like it.

That's my update.
